And on just about all of these private college counseling websites, the testimonials are obviously not from actual clients. “John, Stanford Admit to the Class of 2016.” Or “Susan, Parent of Harvard Admit to the Class of 2016.” Do you see a problem with this? Who could even confirm that these testimonials are from real people? That’s why we at USAFPX don’t put up testimonials like that. We use full names. But also keep in mind that we, as your private college counselor, work behind the scenes. We help college applicants craft the strongest possible applications to their top choice colleges. And a great college application will offer no hint that students got some great private college counseling along the way.
Any private college counseling company that interfaces with a college applicant’s school counselor or admissions officers at the colleges to which the student is applying should be avoided! Good private college counseling is a secret weapon. With an emphasis on the word secret! We’re not in the habit of asking our students and parents for testimonials. They often don’t want to acknowledge that they had some help in the college admissions process. And, frankly, we don’t want to bother them. It’s not why they hired us.
